Olive tree is very important to us more than we can imagine. Its Hebrew word is es shemen which means tree of oil. Its primitive meaning is ‘to shine’. It also means oil, anointing, richness, fat, fruitful, ointment etc. It grows best in direct sun light. Below are some bible verses where Olive tree, its fruits, its leaves and branches where used:

And he waited yet another seven days and again he sent the dove out from the ark. Then the dove came to him in the evening and behold a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth – Genesis 8 : 10 – 11.

Moreover, the Lord spoke to Moses saying, Also take for yourself quality spices- five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane, five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary and a bin of olive oil. And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil -Exodus 30 : 22 – 25.

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills, a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey – Exodus 8 : 7 – 8.

The trees once went forth to anoint a king over them. And they said to the olive tree, Reign over us. But the olive tree said to them, Should I cease giving my oil, with which they honor God and men and go to sway over trees? – Judges 9 : 8 – 9.

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever – Psalm 52 : 8.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table – Psalm 128 : 3.

The Lord has called your name green olive tree, lovely and of good fruit with the noise of a great tumult He has kindled fire on it and its branches are broken – Jeremiah 11 : 16.

For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree – Romans 11 : 24.
