When Your Hut’s On Fire

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.
Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, ‘God! How could you do this to me?’
Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! ‘How did you know I was here?’ asked the weary man of his rescuers.
‘We saw your smoke signal,’ they replied.

The Moral of This Story:
It’s easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn’t lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering.
Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to
the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

    So very true. One thing I have prayed for over and again to be allowed to see the pattern of his plan so that I can see the use of suffering in my life. He has been so gracious as to answer that prayer and there in not one hardship in my life that I do not know why it has occurred. I have used every hardship I have ever endured to help another; therefore, I am quite certain that suffering has some purpose in our lives that speaks far beyond ourselves. I believe when God puts you into a situation that requires great strength it is because he knows he has gifted you with the ability to endure, survive, and use the hardship for good later on down the line. There are others that are not gifted with strength but are given other gifts so they crumble when a hardship hits them but that is where the one who has suffered much, endured much, and survived much goes to work. We who have been given great strength and fortitude must aid others endure and survive the suffering that they will experience in their lives. We were meant to aid one another so that each of our gifts could be fully utilized for God’s plan.

    It has been so long and will be that much longer because humanity has refused to learn, refused to see one another’s pain and saddest of all we have refused to take action. I am very grateful for God’s answer to my prayer because I needed to know all that I have endured, am still enduring, and will endure in the future has a purpose of good attached to it in some way. We cannot see his full plan and maybe we are blind to our own part in his plan but if we ask him to see the world through his eyes, everything will become intense, joy, sadness, love, anger. We must not only look for our own purpose but for how that purpose fulfills his will.

    I enjoyed reading your thoughts and I could not agree more heartily.

      Oh Tina, it is always a great joy to read your comment here which is always full of thoughtful words. ‘No Temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape that you may be able to bear it’ – 1 Corinthians 10 : 13. The word of God is very clear about temptation. The level of our strength to bear will determine the seriousness of our temptation. You are very right and I totally agree with you. He will always help us out so that at the end we will come out victorious in Christ Jesus our Lord. I appreciate your constant comment.
