In this series, I will like to write about Queen Esther in the bible. In her book, there was a king whose name was Ahasuerus who reigned  over one hundred and twenty seven provinces from India to Ethiopia and his throne was in Shushan the citadel. The bible says that in the third year of his reign, he made a feast for all his officials and servants with the sole aim of showing the riches of his glorious kingdom and the splendor of his excellent majesty for many days, one hundred and eighty days in all.

This is what most people do today – demonstrating their wealth as if it was achieved through their strength. We should recognize Him as the giver because it is written that He is the owner of gold and silver.

After these days were completed, the king made a feast for all the people who were present in Shushan the citadel that lasted for another seven days. According to the bible, Queen Vashti who was the wife of king Ahasuerus also made a feast for the women in the royal palace which belong to the king. On the seventh day, the heart of the king was merry with wine and he commanded seven eunuchs who served him to bring Queen Vashti before the king and she should wear her royal crown, so that he can show her beauty to the people and the officials, because she was beautiful to behold. What was the response of the Queen? She refuse to come at the king’s command and this brought anger into the heart of the king.

I believe this is a point most people will not like to miss out. This is not coincidence, when the rightful owner of the crown has been prepared by God, the head that has been bearing the crown before by error can no longer bear the fire that it now emits because the real owner is coming to take over her crown. I believe before then, she has been obeying the king and giving him his due respect. If so, what now prompted her to reject such utmost call at that crucial time to show her to the public despite the fact that the people has already know her.

The wise men now said to the king, ”If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before king Ahasuerus and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than her” – Esther 1 : 19. The king was happy with the decision.

That brought to an end the marriage between the king and Vashti. The king became single again just because of the error which might be very little in the eyes of Vashti. It was suggested to the king that virgins be sought for the king and that any young woman who pleases the king will become the Queen instead of Vashti and this pleased the king.

It so happened that in Shushan the citadel, there was a certain Jew whose name was Mondecai the son of Jair and his forefathers were carried away from Jerusalem with the captives who had been captured with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away. This man brought up his uncle’s daughter whose name was Hadassah that is Esther the daughter of Abihail who has neither father nor mother. Esther was among those young women that was taken when the king’s command came. The women was being kept under the custody of Hegai who has to prepare them for twelve months before they can meet with the king and each of them has her time to meet with the king.

Immediately Esther showed up, she pleased Hegai and she obtained his favor and gave her beauty preparations besides her allowance. Seven choice maidservants were provided for her from the king’s palace and she was moved with her maidservant to the best place. When you have God on your side, what has not been done for anyone before, will be done for you.

Now when the turn came for Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Modecai, who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the king, she requested nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the custodian of the women advised. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all who saw her. So Esther was taken to king Ahasuerus, into his royal palace, in the tenth month, which is the month of Tebeth in the seventh year of his reign. The king loved Esther more than all the other women and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins, so he set the royal crown upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti – Esther 2 : 15 – 17.

When God says His purpose will stand and that He does what he pleases, my part in it all is to sit back humbly, receive whatever it is He plans for me and believe in what I see – Marilyn Meberg.

Whosoever you know is taking your crown, your position, I implore you to fight without tiredness because God Himself has written your name boldly on that crown, on that position, on that job, on that property, on that document, that connection, that certificate, so don’t give the chance to the devil to take your rightful inheritance from you. It doesn’t matter the length of time it has been diverted from you so long it is God Himself who has written your name on it go for it and claim it.

Father, I appreciate You for Your great blessing You keep on pouring on me and my family. Give me the grace, courage, power and wisdom to take back all the blessing You have written my name which the enemy has diverted from me in the name of Jesus Christ.
