DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR PRAYER UNTIL THERE IS AN ANSWER

Then Elijah said to Ahab, go up, eat and drink for there is the sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel then he bowed down on the ground and put his face between his knees and said to his servant, go up now, look toward the sea. So he went up and looked and said, there is nothing. And seven times he said, go again. Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, there is a cloud as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea. So he said, go up, say to Ahab, prepare your chariot and go down before the rain stops you – 1 Kings 18 : 41 – 44.

The bible says that Elijah prayed seven times before the heaven could give rain. There were at times in his life when he prayed once and he got the reply without delay. He did not try to stop after praying for the fifth times or the sixth times and imagined that God has answered his prayer but rather, he persisted until he got the result. If he has stopped praying before the seventh times, he would not have gotten the desired result.

Most of the times when we pray, we think that God will answer us the way He use to. We should always remember that our God is a sovereign God who will always answer us, when and how He want. We should not be use to the ways He used to answer us because He is always ready to do a new thing in our lives. ”I love those who love me and those who seek me diligently will find me ” – Proverbs 8 : 17. ”……… and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him’‘ – Hebrew 11 : 6. When we follow His rules, He will surely answer us and until we have an answer to our prayers, we are not expected to stop. The more time we spend in prayer, we are trying to prove to Him that we trust Him for an answer.

When we pray, we should be persistent. We should always spend quality time in prayer so that He can reveal the secret things to us. Prayer should be a conversation between a Father and son because God does not have grand children.

Father Lord, I thank You for making us to know You. Help us to trust You and remember Your sovereignty. Teach us how to pray O, Lord so that Your name will be glorified  in the name of Jesus Christ.
