Now it came to pass the same night that the Lord said to him (Gideon), take your father’s young bull, the second bull of the seven years old and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has and cut down the wooden image that is beside it and build an altar to the Lord your God on top of this rock in the proper arrangement and take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the image which you shall cut down. So Gideon took ten men from among his servants and did as the Lord had said to him. But because he feared his father’s household and the men of the city too much to do it by day, he did it by night. And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, there was the altar of Baal, torn down and the wooden image that was beside it was cut down and the second bull was being offered on the altar which had been built. So they said to one another, who has done this thing? And when they had inquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing – Judges 6 : 25 – 29.

This is a very difficult task in the physical world to carry out. The altars which his father and the members of the city has been serving even before he was born, he has been asked to go and destroy it. At times we say yes, I will do it but when the time comes for the reality, we start looking for excuses to justify our disobedience. Brethren, it takes the grace of God to carry out some tasks which God instruct us to perform and how difficult the task is, determines the level of your breakthrough you have to expect because the bible says he that sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. Sowing can be an act of obedience, it can be an act of showing love to your neighbor, it can be an act of showing to someone who has hurt you before, it can even be sowing a seed into the life of another it does not matter how you see the life of the person because what we see in the physical is different from what it is in the spirit realm. At times, God will tell us to sow into the life of somebody and because of the way we see the person, we think that the person is not in need of such but when we obey and sow that seed, you will be surprise to hear from the person, if the person is an outspoken that this you have done for him will save him from such and such.

The question now is, if God instruct you today not tomorrow to carry out such task, will you be able to carry it out? If you are not sure if can obey such call, please, I kindly beg you to ask God to help and give you the courage and boldness you need to carry out any task, He may ask you to do because it is better said than done. It is easier to say but difficult to do. Don’t be surprise, let’s face the reality, how many task has God told you to carry out and how many have you been able to carry out because of fear, we continue to doubt, is it God speaking or is my mind speaking to me.

God has been speaking to you before and you know how He speaks but because the task is not convenient for you, now you bring in doubt or you will say God give a sign for me to know that You are the one speaking to me. Friends, let’s be sincere with ourselves even me myself writing this because no one is perfect which is also one of our excuses, I do it at times, but that is not what God expect us do. It is not too late because our God is a merciful God who is ready to forgive us of every kind of sin.

Merciful Father, I thank You for the forgiveness of our trespasses and disobedience everyday. Give us the grace to always obey Your instructions no matter how difficult it might be because we are not alone. Help us not to shy away from our responsibilities in the name of Jesus Christ.
