Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard. Behold, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out. But the wise answered, saying, no, lest there should not be enough for us and you, but go rather to those who sell and buy for yourselves. – Matthew 25 : 1 – 9.

How are we prepared for the kingdom of God? How are we getting prepared for the second coming of Jesus Christ? Are we going to wait without being watchful? Or are we going to be like Noah’s people whose presence Noah constructed an ark because he was a just man – Genesis 6 : 9. And they could not believe that God can course it to rain despite the fact that it don’t normally rain. They refuse to believe that the key of heaven is in God’s hand. They mocked Noah as he constructed the ark. Noah entered into the ark with his family and they were present and still could not believe until it started to rain before they now know that as Noah was hitting his hammer each time on the nail, he was telling them to repent but they refuse and it was too late for them. Because of their unbelief, doubt and being unprepared,  they drowned in the flood.

Although the five foolish virgins were present for the wedding, but they were not prepared. One thing is to be in a place and another thing is to be prepared for the reason of being there. It is not criticism, it is like that today in the house of God. Pastors, teachers and preachers will preach but there is no changes in the life of some christians because they are not prepared for the message and since the blessing cannot come, they will start laying blames on innocent ones. As the pastors or preachers are praying for God to give revelation of what He want him or her to preach, the same way the members should be praying for God to make it possible for the blessing of the message not to pass them by.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you. Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming – Matthew 25 : 10 – 13.

When they did not expect, the bridegroom showed up but to them that were prepared, they could not miss it because it was not a surprise to them.

There is an appointed time of God’s visitation for everyone of us, are we ready as the five wise virgins? Will you allow the door to be shut against you because of lack of preparation? I believe no one will allow that, therefore, let’s be ready no matter how you look at yourself for His visitation and the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ because we do not know the time. We should stop wasting time on irrelevant things. We should let heaven be our aim and focus.

Father, I give You all the praise for all that You have been doing in our lives. Thank You for making us to know the truth because You said in Your word that the truth we know shall set us free. Give us the grace to prepare for Your visitation and the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ so that we will be among those selected to inherit Your kingdom. Don’t let the opportunity of Your visitation pass us by in Jesus name. Amen!
