When we serve God with the valuable things in our lives with happiness and a heart of gratitude, God is ready to open the windows of heaven and pour out His blessings on us.
And God came that day to David and said to him, go up, erect an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. So David, according to the word of God, went up as the Lord commanded. Now Araunah looked and saw the king and his servants coming toward him. So Araunah went out and bowed before the king with his face to the ground. Then Araunah said, why has my Lord the king come to his servant? And David said, to buy the threshing floor from you, to build an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be withdrawn from the people – 2 Samuel 24 : 18 – 21.
When God send us a message, we are not suppose to still ask Him for confirmation. This is the reason that the power of God is not moving the way it is suppose to move in the lives of many christians today. We should know Whom our creator is. We should be able to know His voice because He said we are His friends IF we obey His command. (John 15 : 14 – 15). David did not wait for confirmation voice and waiting for confirmation is doubt. He swung into action because when God speaks, He has already prepare the way and the heart of whomsoever He want us to speak to.
Now Araunah said to David, let my lord the king take and offer up whatever seems good to him. Look, here are oxen for burnt sacrifice and threshing implements and the yokes of the oxen for wood. All these, O king, Araunah has given to the king. And Araunah said to the king, may the Lord your God accept you.
Then the king said to Araunah, no, but I will surely buy it from you for a price, nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing. So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. And David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord heeded the prayers for the land and the plague was withdrawn from Israel. – 2 Samuel 24 : 22 – 25.
David did not jump into the gift as many of us would have done today. This action of David show to us that it is not all gift we should always accept as good children of the Most High God. If David was to be like some of us today, we will be giving thanks that God provided the gift. David, a king, who is suppose to accept gifts as a sign of respect from Araunah rejected it because our God is a God of high value.
Whatever you have that is valuable to you, use it to serve God not because of what you want to benefit from Him but because of Whom He is – His love for us. Our service should be with gratitude, love and joy if not, it will be of no value.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God – Romans 12 : 1 – 2.
At times, when we want to give, we give less quality things to people. Those things that we cannot use. Give what is valuable to you. When you give and it does not touch your heart, that is not giving. When we give with love, we always give the best. God gave His best to us with love – His Only Son. When we give, we should have it in our mind that we are giving to God and not to man. By giving, we are not trying to pay God back for what He has done for us because we cannot pay Him. Anything that we have we should use it to serve God with love.
Everlasting King, I praise You because You are worthy to be praise. Thank You for Your marvelous deeds in our lives. Give us the grace to serve You with whatever we have from the bottom of our heart in Jesus name.
May you be bless MustardseedBudget in Jesus name.
